The New York Times Company acquired Wordle

Wordle, a popular word game, has been purchased by the New York Times Company for “in the low seven figures.” The purchase is part of a plan to “grow digital subscriptions to 10 million by 2025.”

Wordle is a web-based word game that gives players six chances to solve a five-letter word.Each letter is coloured green, yellow, or grey after each guess: green indicates that the letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow indicates that it is in the answer but not in the correct position, and grey indicates that it is not in the answer at all.According to the firm, new and existing users will be able to play the game for free at first.
